You can Pan the map in any
direction.
Click on the Pan Tool.
Verify that the tool mode changes to Pan.
Click and drag your mouse from point A to point B.
The map image will physically move along with your cursor.

The map moves to the right.
When you press this button, it is the active tool. As long as it is highlighted in red, the mouse action will be to pan.
The Back to Last Extent Tool gets you back to the previous view.
Layer list shows the available layers for Duchesne County:
1. Roads
2. Township and Range
3. Public Land Survey Section
4. Parcels_1_14_2010 (1_14_2010 shows the date of ownership updates)
5. Parcels_11_1_09_Archive
6. Parcels_7_30_09_Archive
7. 3 Foot Imagery

Road lines are shown in blue.
Township and Range lines are shown in black.
Section lines are shown in green.
Parcel lines are shown in red.
Turning on and off Layers:
To turn on or off map layers click the box beside the desired layer in the Layers List. After turning on or off a layer you must click the Refresh Map button in order for the change to take effect.

Now the visible layers are "Roads" and "3 Foot Imagery".

Making a Layer Active:
If you wish to identify or select a feature in a particular layer you must first make that layer active. To make a layer active click on the circle next to the layer name in the layers list and click the Refresh Map button.

1. Click the box beside the "Parcels_1_14_2010" to make the layer visible.
2. Click "Refresh Map".
3. Click on the circle next to the layer "Parcels_1_14_2010" to make the layer active.
- Multiple layers can be visible,
- Only one layer can be active at any given time.
The difference between an active layer and a visible layer is that the active layer contains the data you can use with the Identify, Query or Find tools.

Click on the Identify
Tool.
Click on any Surface Parcel.
The Attributes Table is displayed below the map.
In this exercise we will
locate all parcels owned by Duchesne City.
Make the
"Parcels_1_14_2010" Layer
Active by clicking on the
circle next to it.
The message below the map should read:
Parcels_1_14_2010
is now the Active Layer.

Click on the Find Tool in the Tools Menu.
You will see that the Tool
Mode changes from Identify to Find.
Enter DUCHESNE CITY as your find string.
Press the [Find String] button.
The search is
case sensitive!
The search routine looks for matches against all the Text
Attributes.
Entering Duchesne City or duchesne city
will not work.
The results of your search is
displayed in the table below.
Each search result is hotlinked.
Click on Record 1.
The map zooms to show the parcel linked to record 1.
The selected parcel is highlighted in Orange.
Every other parcel that shows up in your search table is
shown in Yellow.

Scroll down to the bottom of the list.
Click "More Records" to see the next 25 results from the result table.
Click "Zoom to these records" for an overview of the results. All 25 records will be displayed in yellow.

Click on the [Clear
Selection] button to remove the selections.
The Parcels now draw without the highlights.
