BASIC TUTORIAL



    Select by Rectangle:

    In this tutorial we will find all the Parcels within a Township.
    As before, to Select a Township & Range you must first make this layer Active.
    Click on the Township & Range Layer.
    The display below the map should confirm:
    Township & Range is now the Active Layer.

   

    Click Select by Rectangle Tool.
    Click and drag a small rectangle AB around the Township name T1N_R7W.

   

    The map will zoom to your Selected Township T1N_R7W.
    The Selected Township will be highlighted in Yellow.
    The Attributes of the Selected Township will be displayed below.

    Select by Line/Polygon:

   Click on the Select by Line/Polygon Tool.
    You will notice that the Tool Mode changes to Select Line/Polygon.
    The Select by Line or Polygon Menu appears below the map.
    Click once within Parcel A and wait for a Red Dot to appear.
    Now move your cursor to Parcel B and click once again.
    Wait for the Red Line to be drawn.
    Press the Complete Line & Select button.

   

    The two parcels A and B are now selected.
    They are shown with a highlight.
    The table below shows the attributes of parcels A and B.
    Scroll down to see the next record.

   

    Now we will add more parcels to our selection.
    Place your cursor within Parcel C and click once.
    Wait for the Red Line to draw.
    Press the Complete Line & Select button.

    Now four parcels are selected.
    The highlighting tells you which ones are selected.
    The attributes of these 4 selected parcels are shown below.
    Scroll down to see the Attributes Table.

 

    Notice that the first and last points form a virtual polygon.

    You can use this to make a selection.
    Click on the Select by Line/Polygon Tool to bring up this menu.
    Press the [Complete Polygon & Select] button.

    This time an additional parcel is selected.
    The red selection polygon intersects 5 parcels.
    The attributes of the 5 parcels are shown below.

   
    Print:

     To print a map click the [Print] Tool

    A Map of your selected area is created showing your Location, Legend, North Arrow and Scale bar.
